Dean Scott Bierman just sent out an email saying that construction of the first phase of the Arts Union will be delayed. He writes, “Right now, we simply need to have greater clarity about the world’s financial situation before committing to a new timeline; any other response to the last three weeks’ events would be irresponsible.”

I wrote about this a couple weeks ago, wondering why no one was talking about delaying the Arts Union. I think it only makes sense to slightly delay such ambitious construction projects.

There was however one line in the email that stood out to me. Bierman writes, “The current financial market uncertainty is severe enough that the two of us, along with President Oden, agree we need to be prudent about the speed with which we proceed with the Arts Union project.” I don’t know who makes these decisions, but is it really just three people?
